Helping Young Readers to Rise Above Physical Afflictions

Eleven-year-old Eddie Torrelli has no place of significance in his 5th grade world. His physical attributes are a source of shame for him and an excuse for teasing by classmates. When Eddie's dad abandons the family and his best friend moves away, his already shaky self-image plummets. Dubbed by classmate bullies, "Eduardo Magnifico" because of his special corrective lenses, compounds his misery. Eddie's life is impacted by three important characters, "Wink," his neighbor, Frosty, a dog that stumbles into his home during a snowstorm, and Jerrydon Howard, a new friend. These three help to transform Eddie into a confident and happy young man. Along the way, he learns some valuable lessons about honesty and forgiveness.
